Biosoc Christmas WinterBall

Merry Christmas everyone! :) Hope you all had a good Christmas and ate loads and loads! :)
I'm enjoying my Christmas break although I wish I didn't have revision to be doing, never mind I'm nearly done and then it will all be worth it :)

For my starter I had the Butternut Squash soup with rosemary oil and toasted pumpkin seeds, it was really good :) And for my main I had Turkey with all the trimmings :)

Before we broke up for Christmas Biological Sciences threw a social for us. We all dressed up and headed to The Vestry for a 2 course Christmas meal :) We had a nice night, it was a lot calmer than last years one but we didn't mind. We always love dressing up and it was good to have a big catch up before we all went home for Christmas :)

I hope you all enjoyed Christmas :)

Winchester Christmas Market

Winchester Christmas Market

The Sunday before the girls and I headed out to Winchester Christmas Market. I can't believe that I left it until my third and last year to go, better late than never I guess XD
Catherine drove us to the park and ride and we got the shuttle bus into Winchester :) We decided to go while it was still light but so we didn't have to wait too long until it was dark to see all the pretty lights :)

The first thing that caught our eyes were Churros. Ohhh my we have been talking about eating churros I'd say for a good month, and finally we could XD It was heavenly haha!

The market was so pretty and there were plenty of little stalls selling loads of different things. We especially liked the paper lanterns and the smoothie candles :) We each got a Bratwurst (German hot dog) which really hit the spot and I bought some Chocolate Flavoured Wine, as it's a genius creation haha :)

Have you ever been to Winchester Christmas Market? Have you been to any Christmas Markets this year? :)

Lemon Butter Biscuits

I'm finally home for Christmas! It's so nice being back and seeing my family again! And having a nice warm house and all the other home comforts :)

Easy Lemon Butter Biscuits Recipe

I decided to make these Lemon Butter Biscuits as they're a favourite of ours that we make once in a while :) I didn't think to double the recipe straightaway (something we always do with English recipes) oh and I was lucky as they rose and luckily they didn't merge together. They're super quick and easy to make and you can have fun with whatever shapes you have, I decided on stars, hearts and flowers :)

Ingredients:

175g butter
75g sugar
175 plain flour
75g cornflour
Lemon (rind and juice)
Icing Sugar

Method:

  1. Whisk the butter and sugar together.
  2. Sift in both flours (who even sifts) and mix together with a wooden spoon.
  3. Add in zest or lemon (you could probably try with orange instead)
  4. Roll out onto a lightly floured surface.
  5. Cut shapes and put on a baking tray
  6. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden and firm to touch.
  7. Take out of oven and leave to cool down.
  8. Mix icing sugar and lemon to make icing, I did it roughly, so some of the icing was a bit runny XD
  9. Drizzle icing on your biscuits or decorate accordingly.
  10. Tadaaaa! You may now eat your biscuits!

These are so simple and so light and it's easy to eat 10 at once XD You can find other recipes I've shared here :)

Let me know if you decide to make them and you totally should as they're super easy and yummy! :)

Salsa Christmas Social

Last Saturday Hannah, Emily, Catherine and I headed to The Bridge on campus for a Salsa Social. We had fun at the previous social at the beginning of the year so we were looking forward to this one, especially as we've had a few lessons now so sort of know what we're doing haha XD When we got there eeeeeveryone was from the advanced class so we were worried, they were all dancing like pros and they all looked so good XD Regardless we danced most of the night and we actually didn't look too bad! We were in time and we did the right steps and twirled when we needed to and it was actually so much fun! By the end of it our feet were aching but we felt so energised!

At the same time, downstairs in the Cube was the Freshers Christmas Ball, so after Salsa we walked into the ball for the last 10 minutes XD The decorations were so pretty! It was a really nice end to the night :)
We really enjoyed Salsa dancing and we're thinking of going to La Margherita as they have latin dancing there aswell :)

Have you ever been to a latin/salsa night? You should it's so much fun! :)

November Favourites

November Favourites

So! Carrying on from my October Favourites last month, it's now time for Novembers! This month went so quickly and it's scary to think that it's December already! It means Christmas and exams will be really soon and I'm not ready for them yet XD So on with this months Favourites... :)

LG Nexus 5

I fiiiinally got a new phone! And I love it! I went months without having a smartphone and used my brothers old slidey Samsung. I'm so indecisive it took me forever to pick a phone, in the end I'm really happy with what I picked and I'm loving the fact that it has a front camera XD *gasp* surely that's normal with phones? Yep, my previous one was oooold XD

Laura's 21st

It was recently one of my best friend's 21st birthday, so Ruth and I headed down to Plymouth to see her. We had such an amazing weekend it was so lovely to see my best friends again, I do miss them when I'm at Uni :) We had Nando's and went to Oceana in the evening and it was such a great night, we all had so much fun! :) Hope you had a great birthday Laura! :) <3

Sunday Roast

There;s a little pub down our road and we'd been meaning to try it since we moved in. We decided to go for a Sunday Roast Pub lunch and we were not disappointed! It was really yummy and a good price! Saved us from cooking it and it was nice to get up and do something instead of being lazy all day on a Sunday :)

I deadlifted 60kgs!

This month I managed to do 2 personal bests, the first one was 55kgs and last week I managed to deadlift 60kgs! :D I was so happy and proud of myself! Heck I still am haha! It's crazy because I never thought I'd be lifting my weight let alone even heavier :) I still remember the first time I tried doing deadlifts properly over the summer, it was only 22.5kgs but I genuinely thought my intestines were going to fall out.. look at me now haha :D

50 Shades of Grey

This is a bit of a controversial one, I wasn't sure whether to put it in, but meh XD I found the books in a charity shop for £1 each and thought why not, let's see what the hype is about XD I've liked reading them, some parts were a tad bit innapropriate :') Made me gasp and go *whaaaat that was unncessary!* XD But it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and as bad as people were making it out to be :)

Explorer Spanish

My friend Yohe has also started a Youtube Channel where she's teaching Spanish phrases and giving other useful tips to people who want to go travelling to countries where they speak Spanish :) I'll be brushing up on my pretty much non-existant Spanish skills and I hope it goes well for her as it's looking good so far! :) You can find her channel here :)

So they were my November Favourites, some were a bit random but there were a few highlights from the previous month :) What have been some of your favourites this November? :)
