*Dermalogica Skin Mapping Analysis and Products Review #MyFaceMyStory

Dermalogica #myfacemystory

Hey everyone! Hope you're all well! I was recently contacted by Preen.Me and Dermalogica to take part in the #MyFaceMyStory campaign so I thought I would share my thoughts with you :) I've been using these products for a few weeks now and my skin feels really good and I don't think it's ever felt this nice during the Winter! It's a nice little routine and it agrees with my skin. Which is good considering they're not the cheapest products and I thought I would go into some more detail about each product and if I would buy it or not :)

So to start off with I went for a skin mapping analysis at a local salon with a Dermalogica Expert. She was really lovely and explained everything nicely to me. She asked me what my skin concerns were and if I had any problems and I told her that my skin is usually fine but it gets dry especially in the Winter. So she had a look at my face and she basically split it up into little zones and analysed each section individually and noted down a bit of information about each section. So for my skin she said that my cheeks were 'normal', I had a dry and dehydrated forehead, didn't have too many fine lines around my eyes (please stay that way) and my chin was a bit dry with the occasional blemish :) After that she went through and recommended a list of products from their range that would be best suited for my skin. It was a really pleasant experience and it was nice to be recommended products tailored for my skin type.

Dermalogica then kindly sent me 4 of the recommended products, so I was sent the *Precleanse, *Special Cleansing Gel, *Daily Microfoliant and the *Skin Smoothing Cream. I've been mainly doing this routine in the evenings, so I will apply the precleanse to dry skin and then I will jump in the shower and do the rest of the routine.

dermalogica #myfacemystory precleanse

The *Precleanse is an oil which you pump into your hand, rub onto your dry face gently, removing your makeup and general dirt from your day. You then wet your hands and go over your face, so it makes a slightly milky emulsion before rinsing it off. It has subtle lavender smell which I think is really pleasant and it doesn't leave your skin feeling oily afterwards. Initially I wasn't that keen on this product. I felt like I was smearing my makeup around my face however it soon started growing on me and I just made sure to put enough product in my hand and to gently remove my eye makeup. I think this takes off your makeup really well and it gets off every last piece of my mascara and I would say it's the best makeup removing product that I've tried so far! However I want to try some other products first before I consider buying this in the future :)

dermalogica #myfacemystory special cleansing gel

The *Special Cleansing Gel is a clear gel, you put a tiny blob onto wet hands and massage it onto your face. I really like how this feels on my skin, it's really soft and I like how clean it makes my skin feel afterwards. A little bit goes a long way so I think this product would last the longest out of all of them and I would buy this when it runs out :)

dermalogica #myfacemystory daily microfoliant

The *Daily Microfoliant is a fine rice based powder which you add to wet hands, rub them together to create a foam and massage into your face to gently exfoliate. I was really hesitant to try this as I have sensitive skin and I find that some exfoliants are a bit too harsh on my skin however this is actually my favourite product out of the 4. It's really gentle and my skin has been fine with everyday use and I really like how bright and soft it's made my skin feel. I think that one use wouldn't be enough and that it does need to be used everyday to gently buff away at your dry skin. It has a really clean smell and it smells slightly like soap and rice but it's quite pleasant. I also thought it would effort to use a powder especially in the shower but I just tip a bit into my hand and carry on :)
So yes, I would definitely recommend this product and I would buy this once I've run out :)

dermalogica #myfacemystory skin smoothing cream

Finally, there is the *Skin Smoothing Cream and it is a medium thickness moisturiser and I think it works well at moisturising my skin and it's a good thickness for use in the morning and evening. I also think it works well during the Winter and perhaps over the summer I would just use it in the evenings as a night cream. However, I personally don't like how this cream smells. It's quite subtle smelling but there is something about it which I don't particularly like and I feel like it smells a bit musty once it's on your skin. It's a shame as the formula is nice and it works well on my skin, but I just can't get over the smell because I'm incredibly fussy and smells do bother me. So for that reason I wouldn't buy this once my current one has run out.

So that was my Dermalogica experience! I'm really glad that I had the opportunity to try these products out and I hope you find my reviews helpful. Have you tried any of their products? Which brands do you usually use? :)

*These products were kindly gifted to me however, all opinions are 100% my own :)

  12. I really like the sound of the face mapping service, it's always good to know which products suit us best as I've often tried things which have dried my skin out more and caused rashes and flare-ups, so this sounds great. Will have to try some of these at some point! - Tasha

  18. I always use those face mapping diagrams you find on Pinterest and a few years ago, I actually popped into a dermalogica stand to get it done professionally. They also recommended the gel which is hugely popular but sadly it just dried out my skin. My mum loved the exfoliant though. Have a lovely weekend :)

These Dermalogica products sounds fab, which is totally in tune with everything else I've been hearing about the brand lately :) It's a pity the Skin Smoothing Cream's scent is off-putting, though pleased to hear the other products impressed!
