Happy Easter

Hey everyone! Happy Easter! Hristos Vaskrese! I hope you're all enjoying your Easter Sunday and eating lots of chocolate eggs/ boiled eggs :) Mum and I thought we would do the eggs slightly differently this year and I don't think we will do this again haha! Can't say it's our best year for egg decorating XD

Usually Mum and I will get the egg, place a leaf or flower on the egg, put it through some tights and tie the ends, and then boil it in red onion skins and so the egg boils and it goes a really nice deep red burgundy colour and when you take the tights and leaf off you're left with a pattern :)

But this year mum saw this packet mix with colours in Lidl and we thought we would give it a try although I wouldn't really recommend it XD 

The packet mix had four colours: orange, red, blue and purple. You just dissolved it in water, put your boiled egg in the coloured solution for 5 minutes and took it out.. the orange was basically the colour of a normal egg.. purple made the egg go brown and then red and blue weren't too bad XD 

I then took a white gel pen and tried to draw the designs, my gel pen decided that it didn't want to draw on egg half way through my design so I had to carry on using acrylic paint but as you can see from the photos my painting days are over and I don't have a steady hand and my paintbrush was huge (although a bad workman blames his tools XD)

I think next year we might try decoupage and stick on some tissue flowers with egg whites, that will also probably fail and then we will go back to our fail proof way XD
